The Old Man of Storr
Trotternish Peninsula, Isle of Skye, Scotland.
The "Old Man of Storr" is one of the Isle of Skye's most distinctive natural features. Located on the Trotternish Peninsula, on the North East of the island, the monolith rises 49 metres into the air and is formed from slowly eroding basalt rock. According to local folklore the protruding form is, in fact, the middle finger of a giant, who died in defiance as he was swallowed up by the earth.
